Oatley Vigmond’s Accessible Halloween Village 2026 returns to Barrie on Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 2–5 p.m., at the firm’s Barrie office at 151 Ferris Lane. Hosted by Oatley Vigmond and inspired by and held in partnership with Treat Accessibly, the outdoor event creates an inclusive, barrier-free trick-or-treating experience for children, families and community members who may face mobility, sensory or other barriers during traditional Halloween activities. More than 40 local Barrie vendors are expected to participate, each offering a trick-or-treating station or activity.

Led by Oatley Vigmond partner Karen Vigmond and the firm’s marketing team, the event brings local businesses, organizations, volunteers and families together to make Halloween more accessible in the Barrie community. Oatley Vigmond staff also volunteer their time to help with event setup and takedown.

What Is Accessible Halloween Village Barrie?

Accessible Halloween Village Barrie provides an alternative to traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating for individuals who may experience accessibility barriers.

Instead of navigating from house to house, attendees can visit trick-or-treating stations and activities in an organized outdoor environment at Oatley Vigmond’s Barrie office. The experience is designed with mobility, sensory and other challenges in mind so that more members of the community can participate in Halloween.

The event is inspired by and held in partnership with Treat Accessibly, an initiative focused on creating more inclusive Halloween traditions.

What Can Families Expect at Accessible Halloween Village 2026?

More than 40 local Barrie vendors are expected to take part in the 2026 Accessible Halloween Village, with each participating vendor hosting its own trick-or-treating station or activity.

Participating businesses are asked to provide treats or activities that are inclusive and appropriate for children who experience barriers and/or sensory sensitivities. This community participation helps create a variety of Halloween experiences within one accessible event.

Accessible Halloween Village is held outdoors, so families attending the October event should be prepared for different weather conditions.

A Barrie Halloween Tradition That Started in 2023

Accessible Halloween Village has grown from a new community initiative into an annual Barrie event.

In 2023, Oatley Vigmond partnered with Treat Accessibly to host Barrie’s first Accessible Halloween Village. More than 30 local businesses contributed volunteer efforts to help bring the inaugural event to life.

Oatley Vigmond partner Karen Vigmond played a leading role in bringing that first Accessible Halloween Village to Barrie. The event has continued over the years since, bringing Oatley Vigmond, local organizations and members of the community together around accessible Halloween celebrations.

The 2026 event marks the continuation of that tradition, with more than 40 local vendors expected to participate.

Making Trick-or-Treating More Accessible in Barrie

Traditional trick-or-treating is not equally accessible to everyone. Going from home to home can introduce physical, sensory and other barriers that make participating in Halloween more challenging for some children and families.

Accessible Halloween Village offers another way to experience trick-or-treating in Barrie. By bringing stations and activities together in a barrier-free outdoor setting, the event is designed to help more people participate in a familiar Halloween tradition.

Accessibility also extends to participating vendors. Businesses taking part are asked to consider barriers and sensory sensitivities when choosing the treats or activities they provide.

The result is a community Halloween event centred on a simple idea, creating an environment where more people have an opportunity to take part.
