Controversies and Challenges in Brain Injury

Toronto Rehab—Canada’s leading brain rehabilitation program, hosted its 18th Annual Brain Injury Conference, bringing together leading clinicians, researchers, legal professionals, advocates, and experts from across Canada and beyond. Grounded in Toronto Rehab’s mission to strengthen functional recovery and empower individuals living with brain injury, the conference delivered timely insight into the evolving complexities of brain injury care and research.

Attendees explored emerging developments in traumatic brain injury (TBI) through engaging plenary sessions, in-depth workshops, and vendor exhibits. The program featured respected speakers including Carmela Tartaglia, Jeff Kutcher, Sarah Lidstone, and Abe Snaiderman, with sessions focused on specialized and often-debated topics such as post-traumatic headaches, movement disorders, and the legal perspectives shaping brain injury cases.

Oatley Vigmond Speaker Spotlight

We are proud to share that Oatley Vigmond Partner Brian Cameron will be speaking as part of the conference program in:

  • Workshop 3: When the Evidence Conflicts: A Legal Q&A on Brain Injury
    🕐 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m

This session will offer practical, real-world insight into navigating cases where medical evidence and legal interpretations diverge, an increasingly common challenge in brain injury litigation.

Beyond the educational program, the conference creates meaningful opportunities for connection, through networking breaks, meals, and exhibits, helping attendees build relationships that support collaboration across disciplines.

Whether you work in healthcare, rehabilitation, research, law, or advocacy, this conference offers practical strategies, fresh perspectives, and essential updates to better understand and navigate the challenges surrounding brain injury.
