Ryan Morrison shares how his life changed after a serious motor vehicle accident while traveling to a friend’s cottage. The vehicle lost control, and Ryan was ejected from the truck before being struck by it as it rolled over. He suffered a broken back and regained consciousness approximately three weeks later at Sunnybrook Hospital. Shortly after waking, he was told by his doctor that he would never walk again.
Ryan’s family explains that they were quickly faced with difficult decisions and learned there was a limited amount of time to obtain legal representation. Jim Vigmond and Brian Cameron met with Ryan and his family at the hospital, reassuring them that they would manage the legal process while Ryan focused on his recovery. Throughout the next four years, Oatley Vigmond coordinated the resources Ryan needed, including occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and driver training so he could learn to operate a vehicle using hand controls.
Ryan says having the legal and rehabilitation process managed for him significantly reduced the stress on both him and his family. Today, he has built a new chapter in his life, including marrying his wife, with Jim Vigmond and Brian Cameron attending his wedding. Looking back, Ryan and his family say having experienced legal representation and a supportive team allowed them to focus on recovery while rebuilding a meaningful and fulfilling life after a catastrophic spinal cord injury.
