Shannon shares how a motor vehicle accident in August 2004 permanently changed her life. Before the collision, sports were a major part of her life, and she had played baseball every year since she was seven years old. Just before returning to college after the summer, Shannon was driving on a narrow, dark road when she saw headlights coming toward her. She swerved to avoid the approaching vehicle, and the accident left her with a spinal cord injury. Her mother received a call from Lakeridge Hospital and soon learned that Shannon had no feeling from the chest down.
