Man crossing the street in power wheelchair struck by car

A middle-aged man crossing the street in his power wheelchair was hit by a driver making a left turn.  Despite being in a wheelchair before the accident, he was very independent.  He could work.  He had learned to adapt to his limitations and carried on with his day to day life on his own.  After he was hit by the car all the independence he had was taken away.  He could no longer stand or walk.  He could not transfer from his bed to his wheelchair or to the toilet.  He could no longer feed himself.  He required extensive rehabilitation therapy and attendant care.  We settled this matter prior to trial for $850,000.
