Tips for Having a Safe Holiday Party
1. If possible, hold the party/function off site at a licensed establishment (restaurant, banquet hall, hotel, etc.)
2. If the function is being hosted at the office, ensure the serving staff is Smart Serve certified as required by law
3. Create a written “No drinking and driving policy” for the party and circulate it to staff
4. Make sure there are plenty of non-alcoholic drinks available during the evening
5. Make sure plenty of food is available if alcohol is served
6. Provide all employees with a taxi voucher so that no one has to drive home if they have had too much to drink

When Rob Durante was called to the bar in 1997, he had been articling for a year with a law firm that specialized in defending insurance companies in personal injury cases. “I developed a sense of wanting to right injustices,” he recalls. “I didn’t want to work for the insurance companies… For me, it’s all about achieving justice for clients, righting wrongs and arranging fair compensation.” Rob joined Oatley Vigmond that same year and has been advocating for seriously injured clients and their families ever since.
