Doctor Failed to Properly Respond To Critical Genetic Condition

Undisclosed Settlement

This was a case about a doctor who failed to properly treat our client when he was two months old. The doctor failed to act appropriately upon receiving critical lab results that were indicative of a genetic congenital disorder, which required immediate treatment. The doctor’s negligence in this respect led to the delayed diagnosis and treatment of our client’s condition. As a result of the doctor’s negligence and the delay, our client suffered profound lifelong neurological difficulties.

Due to the injuries he suffered as an infant, our client’s cognitive function would remain at a level somewhere between a toddler and a young child for the rest of his life. He was left non-verbal and required constant care and supervision. The case settled during the course of trial for an amount sufficient to allow our client’s family to look after him for the rest of his life.
