$1.25 Million Settlement
A 20 year-old man suffered severe burns to 25% of his body when a barbeque exploded at his parents’ cottage in Muskoka. Following surgeries and a lengthy stay in hospital, our client suffered severe scarring, chronic pain, lack of dexterity, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
The barbeque had been installed in an inappropriate location, pursuant to confusing wording on the labelling, which allowed propane to build to explosive levels in the cottage. A lawsuit against the parties responsible for the barbeque’s manufacture, sale and installation was settled prior to trial for more than $1,250,000.
