$875,000 Settlement
An elderly, but active, man was travelling with his son southbound on Highway 11 towards Toronto. He was a front seat passenger as his son was driving that day. Unfortunately, an old, worn-out pick-up truck broke down that day on Highway 11 and was parked in a curb, exit lane. His son did not see the truck and crashed full force into the stationary pick-up truck.
The older man was crushed in the car and suffered severe fractures to his right hip. He underwent numerous surgeries but despite doctors’ efforts, his hip was never the same. He suffered from significant pain and mobility restrictions. We sued the driver of the vehicle – his son – and the owner of the broken down pick-up truck. The case settled prior to trial, for a total of $875,000.
