Joanne Robitaille slept in the upstairs loft of a rental home. At noon hour, she was awakened by the sound of flames and dense smoke. Both the smoke detectors and a fire escape had been removed by the landlord. In order to escape the fire, she had to jump to safety from the perch of her third floor window. As a result, Ms. Robitaille suffered massive injuries to her lower extremities. Ms. Robitaille was referred to Oatley Vigmond by a psychologist.
